About Us

At Sawdust Alpacas, we are always striving to make things easier for us and more enjoyable for visitors.  Since November we have been adding some trees and other shrubbery.  Maybe one of these days we won't look so much like a sand beach in the middle of the desert.

Harvest Hosts guests are having just as much anxiety this year over gas prices, as they continue to increase, as we are.  Geez!! So we are seeing a slow down in visitors.  We so appreciate the ones that are able to come spend some time with us. Check  them out at www.harvesthosts.com.

Our shearing date this year was  on May 6, 2022. We had about 49 alpacas to shear.  We have 44,  and 5 agisted, that were here for shearing.

Our Holly has continued to grow nicely and gained weight.  Beth keeps her hopping and they are always together.  Both Holly and Beth will be going to the Education with a Destination Alpaca Auction  on August 27, 2022.  We are certainly happy that they have been included in that event.  Koko has moved in with the bigger boys and seems to love it there with the 3-4 year olds.  Update:  Both sold, as well as Holly's mom.

We are expecting 9 crias this fall, no spring babies this year.  Hopefully, the moms will do well  over the summer and not have any problems.  Last year the smoke was so bad and really affected the pacas.  Update: 6 boys and 1 girl were born this year.

Sawdust Alpacas has an Alpaca Sponsorship Program. For a 6 month or a yearly fee, you will be able to sponsor the alpaca of your choice from our group of alpacas. You will receive a sponsorship certificate, copy of AOA Registration, information monthly on your alpaca, etc. Check our the sponsorship pages here for more information. The Alpaca remains in our care and custody - your fees are helping to supply feed, care and veterinary services if needed.

We are also excited tp tell you that the US Navy Air Carrier Wing 9 Shogun Squadron has adopted Sawdust's Zitan as their mascot.  They, of course, are calling him Shogun and will have pictures plastered all over the USS Abraham Lincoln when they go to the South China Sea in January 2022.  We pray for their safety as they protect our country. Update: the crew is back safely from their tour in the South China see.  We saw some amazing pictures of both US and China air and sea equipment used to defend our country and her allies.

We hope that you are all well and staying safe in whatever manner that might be for you and your family. We look forward to hearing from or seeing you soon.
