Note: Gerald and his wife bought 2 of our "girls" at Education with a Desitination in August 2022. Then they purchased another female when they came to pick up the first 2. They sent us this note:

April 12, 2023

I must tell you, the three girls we purchased from you are awesome. The 2 younger girls are so socialble and a pleasure to be around. We love all three of them. You have great animals!

On May 2nd, we got this one:

Hi Glenn,

You have received a new review from a Harvest Hosts member!

We had a great stay with Glen and Caroline. The kids helped with all the morning alpaca chores and we all learned a ton about how the process of the alpaca fiber cycle. Driving out to the place we were routed by google maps through a lot of dairies and other feed lots, don't get nervous, the sawdust alpacas place was incredibly clean and organized and you can tell they love their alpacas, treated with such care. Well worth the off the beaten path effort to make a stop here. The site was pretty level and parking should be easy for pretty much any size rig. We didn't use the power but it was right there and looked brand new. The store they have set up has everything alpaca you could ever need. Thank you to the hosts for such a unique fun stay! The kids haven't stopped talking about it!

We really enjoyed our stay. Glen and Caroline were awesome hosts. Glen is very knowledgeable about his alpacas and they are so cute. I purchased a Beautiful alpaca sweater that I’m sure I will enjoy. It was cold but our motorhome stayed toasty thanks to Glen hooking us up to power. Very quiet and safe.

The alpacas are so interesting to watch and the dog was great. It's very easy to find something to purchase. I bought slippers and "glittens" that I used every day of our 2-week trip after that. Glenn and his wife were wonderful hosts. Would definitely stay here again!

Can’t say enough great things about this farm. He took the time so show us around, taught us about the fiber and how amazing Alpacas are. The store is adorable, you can find something for everyone! Highly recommend a night here, you might leave with a new love for Alpacas.

We stayed here in our 38' fifth wheel on 11-29-21 while passing through. We can't say enough good things about our hosts Glenn and Carolyn. Glenn gave us a tour of the farm and let us inside the pens to get an up-close and personal experience with the Alpacas. It was obvious Glenn loves what he does, and he sure loved to show us what the Alpacas were all about! We picked up a few things in the small store that was ran by his wife Carolyn. So many little treasures to choose from! It was easy to pull into the location and plenty wide and long for practically any sized RV. There is 30 amp service if you need for a small additional fee, though we got by on our solar and battery setup. The parking is on gravel and fairly level. We will likely be back if we are in the area again. Don't pass this one up!

Visiting Sawdust was my first night using Harvest Host, and I cannot express how much I appreciate the education of the responsibility of Alpaca care while feeling comfortable on the property. Hooking up to 30a power at fair cost was helpful for having full use of my RV. Carolyn and Glenn were warm and inviting and their shop has way more options than the website to my surprise. I cannot wait to see them again when I pass through town down the road!

This was a great stay! Beautiful place in the country. Glenn and Caroline are so welcoming and wonderful people. Glenn took so much time to answer all the questions I had, show me around the farm and show me how everything operates. As well as giving me a chance to hug one of their sweet alpacas. It was great and I will return

I cannot say enough good things about hosts Carolyn and Glen Waddell. They truly went out of their way and above and beyond the call of duty. Just as I arrived (on a Sat) I discovered a leak in my radiator. They had space and told me not to worry, I could stay as long as I needed. They had EXTREMELY reasonably priced extra days with electric and the ability to fill the water tank and were as helpful as could be. And then there was the Alpacas and Abby their Great Pyrenees guard dog, who were amazing. It was so much fun to spend time around these gentle creatures and learn all about them from Glen. They are SO CUTE!!! And the Alpaca goods in the store are too, I did some nice gift shopping here. Parking is very easy in and out. Highly recommend this stop.

This was our first Harvest Host stay, and what a perfect introduction! Glenn and Carolyn are such personable hosts, and we learned a lot about alpacas. The alpacas themselves are charmers. Can’t help but love them. And the store was fun to shop in. Definitely recommend!

We got a first class education on Alpacas and got to pet them! They have 40+ alpacas and a great dog named Abby that protects them. Caroline and Glenn were great hosts and truly love sharing their alpacas. They have a great little store on site or an online store with great products. We purchased a winter hat for our grandson and a cute little minnie alpaca. They were breeding Felicity the day we left, we can’t wait to go back and see if she has a baby. Thank you so much for letting us stay.

Our visit was very memorable and very enjoyable. Glen met us as we pulled in with a friendly demeanor and helped us get settled. We then got a tour of the pen and the barn. Glen told us how his operation worked with his passion for his work showing with every step. The next morning, I helped Glen with the morning feeding, followed by getting to walk High Cotton and HaRVy (adopted by Harvest Hosts) with a halter. Mary bought some yarn from the shop. Carolyn returned from the yarn processing after our arrival, so we got first shot at the new inventory. Great stop! We will be back if we are anywhere close by.

We had a wonderful time at Sawdust Alpacas. Our hosts, Glenn and Carolyn were very welcoming. We were greeted by Glenn and then quickly introduced to the alpacas. We learned so much about these soft, wonderful and curious animals. We volunteered to help with chores and learned so much about their alpaca family. Both Glenn and Carolyn were eager to answer all our questions. When the work was done we enjoyed a "down-home" visit on the porch and visited like old friends. We will definitely stop by again when our travels bring us thru this part of the country. We had plenty of room for our 40' class A and the electric was an added luxury. Thanks for a great visit, Glenn & Carolyn!

Right from the start, we knew we would enjoy our stay. Glen met us with the most amazing smile, and so did the alpacas as they lined the fence to greet us! Our site was level and the electricity was welcomed. Carolyn has a wonderful store! We learned so much about these gentle creatures! Our hosts enthusiasm definitely made our stay worthwhile! Before leaving, WE ADOPTED! Fell in love with that old man, Magneto, and now we have an adopted alpaca son!

Spent 2 days at Sawdust Alpaca Ranch . Glenn and Carolyn Waddell were excellent host. The alpacas were fun to watch. The pens were clean and they were well cared for. I loved the little shop. There were a lot of neat and interesting things to buy. PS. Contrary to popular belief in addition to being calm and easy-going they do not smell. Need electric? They have three slots available that can accommodate small as well as large rigs.

A PLUS isn’t a high enough score. Glenn and Carolyn are incredibly friendly, caring people who go above and beyond as hosts! The Alpacas are beautiful and Glenn is very knowledgeable about the fibers, what it takes to show an Alpaca. The lineage of each animal. It is all very impressive. They are very willing to allow you to help care for them, take pictures with them, walk them on a harness. The shop has some unique Alpaca products and are all very reasonably priced. But, when you leave there feeling as if you’ve made a friend and you find yourself 15 min away broken down knowing no one in Fallon,NV and you call Glenn for advice about a service station on a Saturday. He not only looks up phone numbers for you but, comes and meets you on the side of the road to tow your camper back to their play because the tow truck drivers informs you that no one can service your truck till Monday. Just truly amazing. They went out of their way to help us out when he didn’t have to. Kind beyond words!!

Absolutely loved this place. Glenn was there to greet us and assist with parking. The available 30 amp was a blessing since it was 100 degrees. There was so much to learn about alpacas and the operation Glenn and Carolyn have set up. I was able to purchase an item from the store that was made from fiber of the alpacas I met. Sawdust Alpacas is a must stop if you are in the area. Fallon is an oasis in the desert.

Our very first Harvest Host stop and it did not disappoint. Alpacas right out my door. Greeted by the dog and Glen and Carolyn were super friendly. They taught me about alpacas and there were a couple of new additions to the farm. So cute. Electricity was offered for a small fee which was great because it was hot. We would return here again for sure. Thanks for the stay! Monica

Our stay with Glenn and Carolyn couldn't have been nicer! Nice level spot with easy access. It was a bonus to plug into 30amp service for $10. Great tour of ranch and gained a knowledge of raising alpacas. Quite amazing. Carolyn offered fiber products from the alpacas from their ranch. We shall be back!

What a great place to stay! We stayed in our 40 foot class A - no problem. What a wonderful way to wake up, seeing all the inquisitive faces looking at you. Also, Glenn and Carolyn was the most wonderful people. They showed us all around and explained the raising, breeding and shearing processes of their beautiful alpacas. We will definitely be back! Be sure to check out the alpaca products for sale too! I love my sweater I bought. Super soft and comfy. We visited March 24-25, 2021

Yes! Definitely stay here! We had stayed at another alpaca farm in Maine so I was hesitant to stay here but I’m so glad we did! Glenn welcomed us in even though I called the same day. He has a smooth, flat spot right between his home and the alpacas. It was so fun to wake up to alpacas staring at you. In the morning he invited our children into the yard to pet and feed the alpacas. He taught us a lot about the animals and showed my kids how he cuts their nails. You can tell that he thoroughly enjoys having the children on his farm. His wife Carolyn was very sweet. We purchased a few things from their small store. As we left they waved us off like family. Thank you so much for having us!

Such a beautiful farm and wonderful people! We learned so much about!!! And my husband got to hold a baby, it was so precious. You can tell that they are passionate about the animals and not just a farm to make money off cute animals.

Yesterday was my first time hanging out with Alpacas . They are funny curious animals each with their own personality. I enjoyed spending the day out there and the Ranch owners are awesome people and very welcoming. Look forward to my next visit.

f you are looking for one of the best places to meet great people and see beautifully curious animals, Sawdust Alpacas is the place to come. Glenn and Carolyn are the most down to earth, good people I've met in a long time. They open their arms to you and welcome you into the herd. They both are extremely knowledgeable about everything Alpaca and have spent the last 8 years perfecting their herd. I just love it out there and recently purchased three girls. It's truly heaven in earth around these people and their Alpacas!
